Algorithmic Composition Project in Progress....
The development from Brahms’s Sonata to Berg’s Sonata is expantion of certain rules in in Brahms”s sonata and also avoidance of certain rules in Brahms’ sonata.
The early twentieth century music developed in a way composer assigns themselves certain restrictions. Twelve-tone techniques and serialism are ways for composers to have restrictions. Comuter’s thinking is limited. It only does what I tell the computer to do. The computer does not have freedome of thinking. So, using computer and calculate music in the restriction my algorithm would create is twenty-first-century way to emulate the twentieth-century development of music.
Try to capture what Charles Keil calls “Participatory Discrepancy.” Good compositions need to have discrepancies from what is assumed to be the normal.
